Mechanical properties of steel for closed socket

Description of socket:
New product taking part in the connecting system between the wire rope and the chain. Fully manufactured by FORGING, from Alloy Steel and without any welding, the Forged Eye Socket type LE BEON is specially designed to connect the Wirerope to the chain for the offshore mooring system in deep water.
This new connecting system consists of one conical part of the wirerope connection and one plane part for the chain joining shackle. Each socket incorporates two lifting padeyes for assembly handling purposes which double as a subsea buoy connection point after installation.

Advantages:

The Goal of this new product is to avoid the triangular plate which is used today in a standard mooring line. The prior system consisted of one socket + one triangular + one end joining shackle. The new system will be made up by the eye socket and the end joining shackle.
Weight saving in the mooring connection
The forging process improves the mechanical characteristics of the product, which enable to reduce external dimensions of the eye socket.
Eliminate all trial fitting problems between the triangular plate and the open socket, well known in the traditional system.
Only one electrical insulating bushing for the entire connection
Only one zinc or aluminum sacrificial anode
A same steel for the entire connection.
